1. Who we are

Howl B.V. (“we”, “us”, “our”) is registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) under number 83776486. Our registered address is Blankenstraat 404–406, 1018 SK Amsterdam, the Netherlands. VAT number: NL862986114B01. Howl is part of the Ringo group.

We decide why and how your personal data is used. That makes us the controller under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. Scope

This policy applies to personal data we process through this website, wearehowl.music, and when you contact us by phone, WhatsApp or e-mail. It does not cover other websites we link to.

3. What we process, why and for how long

  • Visiting the website. Your IP address, the pages you request, the date and time, and your browser and device type, kept in the server logs of our hosting provider, Railway. The website runs in Railway's region in the Netherlands. We use them to deliver the site securely and to detect abuse. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a secure, working website. The logs are kept for a short period, normally no longer than 30 days.
  • Fonts. The website loads its fonts from Google (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com). When a page loads, your browser connects to Google and sends your IP address and browser details to Google. This happens whatever you choose in the cookie banner. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in showing the website in its own typeface. Google handles the data under its own privacy policy.
  • Films. A film plays from YouTube (Google) only after you click it, through the privacy-enhanced address youtube-nocookie.com. Until you click, nothing is loaded from YouTube. When you click, your browser connects to Google, which receives your IP address and browser details. Legal basis: you ask for the film by clicking it. Google handles the data under its own privacy policy.
  • Calling, WhatsApp or e-mail. The website has links to call Marcel, to write on WhatsApp and to e-mail us. Nothing is sent until you use one. If you do, we receive your phone number, your name if you give it, what you tell us and our replies. We use them to answer you. Legal basis: steps taken at your request before a contract, and our legitimate interest in running our business. We keep enquiries for up to 24 months after our last contact. WhatsApp is operated by WhatsApp Ireland Limited (Meta), which handles messages under its own terms and privacy policy.
  • Analytics. Only if you accept it in the cookie banner. See section 4.

When a period ends we delete the data or make it anonymous.

4. Cookies and similar technology

This website uses Google Analytics only after you accept it in the cookie banner. Until then, and if you decline, no analytics is loaded and nothing is sent to Google for this purpose.

If you accept, Google Analytics 4 collects which pages you visit, your approximate location, your device and browser, and how you arrived on the website. We use this to see which pages help agencies and brands find what they need. The provider is Google Ireland Limited. It sets two cookies in your browser:

  • _ga, which is used to distinguish visitors. It lasts up to 2 years.
  • _ga_<id>, which is used to keep the state of your visit. It lasts up to 2 years.

The lifetimes are Google’s defaults, as documented in Google’s Analytics Help.

Your choice is stored in your browser’s local storage (under the name howl-consent) for 12 months. It is not stored in a cookie. After 12 months we ask you again. You can change your choice at any time with the “Cookie settings” link in the footer of every page. If you decline after having accepted, the Google Analytics cookies are deleted and nothing further is collected.

Two other outside services are contacted by your browser, as described in section 3. Google Fonts is contacted whenever a page loads, whatever your choice. YouTube is contacted only after you click a film. Each of them receives your IP address and browser details.

If we add other tools, we will update this policy first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.

5. Who receives your data

  • Our hosting provider (Railway), for the website and its server logs.
  • Google (Google Ireland Limited) for Google Analytics, but only if you accept it, for Google Fonts, and for YouTube films you click. Google receives the requests your browser makes to it, as described in sections 3 and 4.
  • WhatsApp Ireland Limited (Meta), if you message us on WhatsApp.
  • Our e-mail and telephone providers, for the messages and calls we send and receive.
  • Our accountant and professional advisers, where needed.
  • Authorities, where the law requires it.

These providers act on our instructions or under their own terms, and we agree data processing terms with them where the law requires. We do not sell your personal data and we do not share it for marketing.

6. International transfers

Some providers, including Google (Analytics, YouTube and Fonts), Meta (WhatsApp) and our hosting provider Railway, may process data outside the European Economic Area, in particular in the United States. Where data leaves the European Economic Area we rely on a safeguard the GDPR allows, such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the standard contractual clauses of the European Commission. For Google Analytics, Google relies on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

7. Your rights

You have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, to receive it in a portable format and, where we rely on your consent, to withdraw it at any time.

To use these rights, e-mail hello@wearehowl.com. We answer within one month. You can also lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl) or with the supervisory authority in your own country.

8. Security

We use appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, loss and misuse.

9. Professional use

This website and our services are meant for agencies, brands and the people who make music for them. They are not directed at children.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The current version and its date are always on this page. If we make a significant change, such as adding a new tool, we publish the new version before it takes effect.
